Aussie Curves 3.0 - Bridal

like to push myself out of my comfort zone every now and then. I believe this is how we grow and learn more about ourself. Well this week I certainly did that! It was a bit emotional but it was also heaps of fun! I love playing dressup!

Now I've never been a Bride so I wasnt sure how I would approach this challenge. I initially thought I'd just wear some lace in an outfit or a veil in my hair and just interpret that as being inspired by Brides but it didn't end up like that.
I did a whole little mock wedding... minus a husband... That was until it got a little too emotional for me.

The 'Wedding dress'
For the top half of my wedding dress I used one of the few white items of clothing I own but it worked well as it has a bit of a corset look to it. However, In reality I would want the back low cut so it would show off my Princess tattoo on my back as it helps exlain why I am wearing a tiara.

The bottom half of my mock wedding dress was a tablecloth of Mums I found in her cupboard. I was pretty impressed with my level of creativeness even though the patterns clashed big time!
Half way through I realised I didn't have a garter so I grabbed one I had with my dress ups from a burlesque dressup Hens night I had a while back.

The Hair. The Veil. The Tiara
This part was fun! I used an arched hair piece to give my hair a bit of a rise and then put a piece of scrap material in the back with bobby pins to complete the veil look. The tiara completes my Princess look as I believe every female deserves to be treated like a Princess.

The Bling. The Necklace. The Tears.
Pearls are a classic choice for a wedding outfit. They are simple, classic and elegant and definitely helped me create this Bridal look. My earrings are blingy but just simple so they don't detract attention from the necklace.

As much as I would love to wear pearls on my real big day I have better plans.
Some of you may remember that my Father passed away around 6months ago. Well the hardest part (for me) is that he will never get to walk me down the Aisle so we got some of his ashes put in a a necklace (similar to the silver one Im wearing below) that my Mum will give me on the day of my wedding.

This is where I bowed out. It just got a bit too much for me but on my real big day I'll go the whole nine yards and I can't wait!

  1. Your post hit close to home.

I was the quintessential daddy's girl. I even chose my career based on what he wanted me to be.

My dad passed on many years ago, but until now, there's not a day that passes without me thinking of him. I guess I have never recovered.

    You look beautiful.
