Aussie Curves - Retro

This is me doing Retro, well one of my interpretations of Retro. I wore an op shopped dress with a petticoat from an old dress up underneath to give the dress a more 50's housewife poofy looking skirt.
That's it from me this week. Short and Sweet; Just like me!

Frocktober 2013 - Week 4

Well this must be the second last week... I have managed to not double up on my dresses yet besides from my LBD that I've worn a few times but all in different ways. Yes I know it means I have LOTS of dresses but I borrowed one, op shopped a few new (old) ones and have worn a few that I will probably donate back to the op shop after this month is done. Here's the low down of the dresses I've worn this last week or you can follow me on Instagram @charlenegirl to see them each day.

Now I still need quite a bit to reach my goal of $200 fundraised for The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation so if you would like to donate feel free to do it here, However I guess any money raised is better than none!

Frocktober2013 - The 3rd week

Gees has this month gone quickly, It's the third week already! Hopefully by now you have made some sort of contribution to the Frocktober cause (monetary or other). If not please do because it is a very worthy cause and you will undoubtedly know someone in your lifetime that will suffer from Ovarian cancer; this cause could save their life! If you haven't yet made a donation feel free to donate here or come and visit me at work to donate in person.

I have still pretty much managed not to double up on any dresses so far, that means I obviously have a lot more dresses than I thought I had!

Not too much longer to go! I wonder if I will manage a way to wear a different dress everyday? I guess I'll have to go shopping or borrow some dresses....well I guess it wont be long and we will soon find out!

Aussie Curves - Celebrity Copycat

Celebrity Copycat - Tess Munster
The theme for Aussie Curves this week is Celebrity Copycat. It took me a while to think of someone whose style I would like to imitate but while I was scrolling through Instagram I came across the perfect chick, Tess Munster!

Tess Munster is a stunning model. She is a plus size model, a body positive activist and sends a remarkable message to any female who may have low self esteem or not like their body. Her message is about empowering women and not letting your body hold you back from anything, not even being one of the worlds top plus models! Also she is the founder of the #effyourbeautystandards movement, a tag I love to use!
If you have not seen her stuff then I highly recommend you do. Find her at:
Facebook: Tess Munster-Plus Model
Instagram: @tessmunster
Twitter: @tessmunster
Youtube: MadameMunster

I looked through Tess' photos to see what it is about her style that I like, what it is that inspires me. I made a list of the reoccurring trends that stood out in her pics that I might use:

Pinup style crossed with glamor & punk at times
Black bra under a see through black top

Short skirt with bare legs
Chunky black heels
Vintage styled hair, rolls often with bows
Huge eyelashes
Dark Lipstick
Defined cheekbones & Eyebrows

This is the outcome:
I darkened my eyebrows with a little pencil, add the blush to try to recreate the gorgeous defined cheekbones Tess has. Add a black bow in my hair and on my wrist, chunky black heels and some darker lippy, well the darkest I have. I would've put some effort into doing my hair with curls etc but I was pressed for time...
...Plus a little bit of colour with a red rose brooch and red sunnies...
I'm pretty pleased with the direction I went and the outcome, however no one can be Madame Munster but her. I choose to be me and just take some style tips from her, and I have. When I find a black bra that actually keeps my nipples covered the whole day you definitely see my rocking this look!

Aussie Curves - Pink

I don't know why but I don't own a lot of pink. It's not that I don't like the colour or the way it looks on me, I guess I just rarely come along pink pieces that I want.

I own two pink pieces of clothing. A deep pink top by City Chic and an oversized fluoro pink top that is apparently also by City Chic. I don't like one more than the other so I thought I'd just wear them both!

This fluorescent pink top has a bright orange mesh singlet joined underneath. Its definitely too short to wear as a dress but still quite big. It is apparently City Chic but the little material bits under the arms (that are there to keep the dress on the coat hanger) are white which makes me think its an imitation as I've only seen them black. Have you seen white ones before? Anyways... the outfit... overall I didn't like the way it turned out, especially with the leggings. Would look better with jeans I think.

I prefer this outfit of the two. I'm just wearing this simple pink CC top over my LBD. I would've liked to have worn some matching pink stockings but the ones I have are either to purple or too red so I've gone with the naked leg look. Excuse the still healing knee scrapes that hopefully won't become scars. I decided to wear this cute Naughty Monkey wedges I got for $15 cause they have a little pink in them and I think it works.

Make sure you check out all the Aussie Curves chicks looking fabulous in pink this week!
Do you wear pink?

Frocktober2013 - The 2nd week

So it's already the second week of Frocktober! How time flies when your having fun! I'm not going to give you the whole spiel about what Frocktober is cause you should know by now and know what a great cause it is to donate to. If you want to know more or donate any amount just follow the links at the end of this blog.

I've managed so far not to double up on any of my dresses so I have a lot more than I thought I did! Saying that, there is quite a range; I have dresses with a top over them, maxi dresses, skater dresses and tunics which I interpret as dresses that are too short and/or tops that are too long. Enough typing, lets check out the Frocks!

Excuse this middle pic in the last photo, I just wanted to prove I was wearing a dress! Check me out again this time next week and I'll show you the next 7 outfits I've worn throughout the week.

If you would like to make a donation towards this great cause feel free to do it here!

Aussie Curves - Stripes

I would've totally used my ideal black & white striped dress for this but I was a bit slow in looking at the future challenges and stupidly used it as one of my outfits in my $50 Outfit post so I've gone for a different type of stripe; A less obvious tie-dyed stripe. It still counts right?
I'm currently doing another challenge in support of Frocktober. This charity raises funds for The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation and I am helping by wearing a frock (dress) for every day in October, or Frocktober should we say. More about that here.

It's the weekend and I've needed to chill out a bit so this op shopped Autograph dress was just perfect. Not too short and not too long, this dress is very comfortable and great when the weather is starting to get a little warmer than usual.
The stripes are not as obvious as most others will be but I'm fine with being different. I don't think it really flatters my shape but I don't think it looks terrible and clearly I wasn't too bothered, it felt too good.

Autograph dress - op shopped - I think it was about $8
Metallic Dark blue Havianas - Skin, Ski & Surf - Around the $20 mark

Have fun ladies! I'll see you all again next week!
