Aussie Curves - Hipster

This weeks Aussie Curves challenge of 'hipster' initially had me a bit stumped. Google defines a hipster as "a person who follows the latest trends and fashions" but I was not satisfied with that definition especially considering my limited knowledge of the term was more in depth than that. After doing a bit of research I came across the UrbanDictionary.com definition, that even though it is not by any means a reliable resource it still seemed to be pretty spot on and funny how in depth the definition went.
Now keep in mind this UrbanDictionary.com definition is a generalisation of the stereotype 'hipster'.

"Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence and witty banter...Although "hipsterism" is really a state of mind, it is also often intertwined with distinct fashion sensibilities. Hipsters reject the culturally-ignorant attitudes of mainstream consumers, and are often seen wearing vintage and thrift store inspired fashions, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers and sometimes thick rimmed glasses.
Both Hipster men and women sport similar androgynous hair styles that include combinations of messy shag cuts and asymmetric side-swept bangs. Such styles are often associated with the work of creative stylists at urban salons and are usually too "edgy" for the culturally-sheltered mainstream consumers... Despite misconceptions based on their aesthetic tastes, hipsters tend to be well educated and often have liberal arts degrees or degrees in maths and sciences, which also requires certain creative analytical thinking abilities. Consequently many hipsters tend to have jobs in the music, art and fashion industries...
Although hipsters are technically conformists within their own subculture, in comparison to the much larger mainstream mass, they are pioneers and leaders of the latest cultural trends and ideals. For example, the surge of jeans made to look old and worm (i.e., "distressed") that have become prevalent at stores... Were originally paraded by hipsters who shopped in thrift stores years before such clothing items were mass produced and sold to mainstream consumers..."
Using that definition as my main inspiration I created my own hipster look, heading towards the intellectual artist feel.
Thrift store buys of course, glasses (how can you not!?!), classic old school doc marten boots, khaki pants (these will be hot and on-trend on & off forever in my opinion!), khaki snood (or scarf) to match my pants and then I added the feathers on my earring for a little indie rock incorporation.
As for my hair the Side swept fringe with a little teasing at the back gives that 'i don't care' messy hair look and to top it off I've got a few art books and some paintbrushes in my pocket.

 What im wearing:
* Black City Chic Zipper top - Op Shopped for $4
* Lace sleeved bodysuit - Op shopped for $4
* Khaki green My Size pants - Op shopped for 50c
* Khaki green snood scarf - Op shopped for $3
* Blue reading glasses - my own from a pharmacy $15
* Doc martens - second hand from a friend for $10 roughly 15 years ago!
* Feather earrings - made myself from bits & pieces

And that my friends is my Hipster post for Aussie Curves this week.
