Aussie Curves 3.0 - Secondhand

See what I did in that photo?!?! ^
Uh? Uh?? Pretty crafty aye?!! LOL
I originally planned to do an elaborate outfit for this challenge to demonstrate that 'secondhand' is not limited to op shops. Unfortunately I ran short on my allocated time so I just threw together an outfit.
One article of clothing I was certain I wanted to use from this challenge was my Harlow scuba wet look leggings. These wet look leggings previously belonged to Danimezza. I bought them from her for $40 via a Facebook sale advertised through Instagram. These are a size XL and are probably a bit too big for me but when I roll then up you can hardly tell. I love how they add a little rock chick style to any outfit!
The top & shoes are both from an op shop, as are the majority of my clothes and accessories. However don't limit the source of secondhand clothes to op shops. I've bought clothes through Facebook, Instagram, Garage sales, eBay, Markets & stalls and have also sourced plenty of free clothes or hand me downs from friends and family.
Outfit details:
Top || My Size || Op shopped $5.50
Wet look scuba leggings || Harlow || $40 off Facebook
Wedges || Op shopped $2.50
Now this is only one outfit. Don't be disappointed. I know if there was any Aussie Curves challenge that I should absolutely dominate in its this one so Ill probably try to do a second hand outfit everyday but highly likely I won't have time to blog about them all. If I get the chance to take a photo I will Instagram it so follow me @charlenegirl if you don't already!

Aussie Curves - Then & Now

Then and Now.
The above photo has nearly 20 years between the times they were taken.
Alot has happened in 20 years.

I wouldn't even know where to start.
So I won't.

One thing that is clear to me now is that I've always loved fashion, clothes and getting dressed up. However I've never felt like I was entitled to be into fashion because I didn't sew and didn't spend heaps of money on buying clothes, amongst other reasons.

Over the past few years working in retail my passion for fashion has been reignited and I now know that I have every right to enjoy clothes. After all everyone wears clothes no matter thier size.

Aussie Curves has helped me so much on my journey. Especially with building up my self esteem, confidence and reminding me that I'm worthy despite things that have been said or done in the past.

I'm glad then is back there.

Now I'm here.

Pho Sizzle

The weekend before last I got to meet an awesome chick from Aussie Curves - a facebook group that encourages plus size women to experiment with fashion and to participate in weekly photo challenges. Jacqueline from Fashion & Pho is the first person I've met through Aussie Curves and might I say she is very talented and inspiring.
Jac (cause I can't spell Jacquie!) designs clothes for her own brand Pho Sizzle and when she told me she was coming to my home town to do a pop up shop for her brand I jumped at the opportunity to meet her and check out her merchandise!
Now those of you who have read any of my blogs before would easily be able to tell that I'm an op shopper at heart but when it comes to a friend, local or just a talented person I am more than happy to support an Australian business!
Since Pho Sizzle's line of clothing ranges from size 6-20 I went to check out her pop up shop with every intention of purchasing something. I did and I am extremely happy with what I got!
I bought this 'Gone Fishin skirt' for $65 which I think is quite a reasonable price for something homegrown, that fits, looks good and supports a small business with great designs and amazing bold patterns.  I definitely recommend you check out Pho Sizzle's range of crops, skirts and dresses as the patterns are unlike any you've seen! Lobsters, Lantern fish, stars and hearts, umbrellas and I've even heard of some awesome Octopus tenticle patterns to come!... But Sshhh you didn't hear that from me!
I'm wearing a size 20 which is fairly true to size, if anything maybe a little generous. I'm totally pumped to wear this skirt during the soon to come heatwave of Summer, give my legs a bit of a chance to see sunlight before they go into hiding again and give my confidence a bit of a boost from compliments as I've already got heaps!
Jac, based in Melbourne is the designer behind this new and upcoming brand but the items are produced in Hanoi, Vietnam and made from 100% African wax cotton which creates quite a range of cultural influences in this brand. I dunno about you but for me this definitely makes me more excited to see what is yet too come!

Aussie Curves 3.0 - Sparkle

Sparkle is a challenge category that is most likely going go be on every years Aussie Curves challenge list or any sort of photo challenge you do.
I knew that half way through this year and had been on the lookout for something for the future considering I have used most of my other sparkle type clothing items.
When I saw this Autograph top in an Op Shop I decided I definitely needed it for my next sparkle type challenge. And I am so glad I did get it cause it is super comfy!...
Not even a week later the latest Aussie Curves challenge list comes out and what do ya know.... in the first column there you have it...Sparkle!!

Outfit details:
Sparkly top || Autograph || Op Shopped $5.50
Denim skirt || City Chic || $30
Wedges || I ❤️ Billy || Op Shopped $4
Nail polish || Revlon Silver Coin || Chi Chi

Check out some of the other Aussie Curves chicks sparkling in the blog hop below!

Aussie Curves - Pyjamas

I'm another one of those gals that don't wear pj's. I do wear clothes to bed but not pyjamas; usually a singlet or jumper and intimo pants (cause they feel like heaven!). Knowing that I've still been determined from the start to participate in this challenge.

I had to think to myself what pj items I even wear and I realised that I wear a Jane Lamerton slip-like dress with a top over it to look like a plain black skirt. Unlike usual slips that are silky or satin like material, this one is a heavier soft feeling material.

I'm not sure why I prefer to wear this rather than an actual black skirt. My reasoning tells me its:
A - because I haven't yet found a black skirt in a similar material that fits me width and length wise in the particular way I want it to fit; or
B - because I don't have to worry about having a visible skirt line on my waist or the restricted feeling that a skirt can sometimes have around the waist area where the zip/belt/button does up.

Either way this works for me atm so that's good enough for me!

Outfit details:
Slip/dress || Jane Lamerton || Op Shopped $4
Magenta Tunic || Avella || Op Shopped for $2
Long black vest || No tags so I don't know the brand sorry || Op Shopped $4
Black sandals || Target || $15
And my sexily created nails were made by myself using Chi Chi's fluero coloured nail polishes.

Might as well check out the other curvettes rockin thier PJ's via the blog hop below!!
